Artist Statement

My continuing interest is in the impression of motion resulting from the interaction of angles, curves, and arcs I achieve through assembling freehand shapes cut from slabs of clay.

This interaction within pieces and between pieces further advances a sense of story as disparate impressions coalesce into new and changing expressions.


Brief Biography

Born Emily Page Sharp in Warrenton VA, 1953.
BFA 1975 Virginia Commonwealth University.
Various jobs including framing, sign painting, vineyard labor, teaching, clay sculptor.
Married, living in South Central Kentucky.
One Grown daughter.
Interests: vegetable gardening, bird watching, encouraging
natural habitat.
