Nicky Loftis

Artist Statement
I am a maker of vessels and writer of messages. In my development of an artistic communicative language I have moved from utilizing image to form and finally to words. Through the synthesis of both textual stories and physical objects I create a message and a vessel that both contain and carry each other. The event that led to their genesis is given a physicality that it did not posses inside me as a memory. Each object is my attempt at making a moment of my life real for the viewer.

Bio
Nicole Loftis was born and raised in rural northeastern Ohio. She received training in the arts and music from an early age. Upon graduation she entered The Ohio State University. To build upon her college experiences she participated in workshops and assistantships both locally and internationally. She also secured a four-month internship in Singapore her junior year. She is pursuing a BFA in Glass and a BA in International Relations, with honors.
