Artist Statement
After receiving my doctorate in botany from The Ohio State University in 1969,
I spent over 30 years as a botany and microbiology professor and academic administrator
in Ohio, New York, and Vermont. I retired from my position as Provost and Dean
of Lake Erie College in 2003, and began a new and creative endeavor as a fiber
artist in 2004.
My art passion involves the juxtaposition of textures and colors in the creation
of my artwork. I find it exciting to combine a variety of colors and textures
to form three-dimensional pieces. Many of my designs remind me of the beauty of
nature.
