(Columbus, OH)—The Ohio Craft Museum will present the 12th annual “Gifts of the Craftsmen,” a holiday exhibition and sale of fine crafts, November 13–December 23. Holiday shoppers looking for unique gifts this season will discover handcrafted jewelry, pottery, art glass, baskets, clothing and more, all created by over 60 fine craft artists from around Ohio and across the United States. All works are suitably priced for gift giving, ranging in price from $4 “stocking stuffers” and $15 earrings, to glass spheres and vases by Massachusetts artist Josh Simpson at several hundred dollars.

“We are pleased to offer colorful prints and holiday cards by one of central Ohio’s favorite graphic artists, Evangelia Philippidis,” commented museum director Betty Talbott. “Another great addition to the sale is the contemporary fine-metal jewelry of Patricia McCleary. Shoppers will find an abundance of unique, handcrafted ornaments, from beautiful glass balls to whimsical ceramic figures, and traditional stars and snowflakes.” Returning favorites include Mark Brown’s fun clocks made from found materials, colorful blown glass gourds by Jack Pine, and Gail Russell’s highly decorative ceramic vases and jars.

An opening reception will be held on Sunday, November 13, from 1 to 4 p.m. “Scandinavian Tree Topper,” a CraftView Afternoon workshop led by fiber artist Phyllis Walla Catania, will be held during the opening. From 1 to 2 p.m., workshop participants will weave a 3-D star using natural wood strips to use as a tree topper or display year-round. Fee: $17; members, $15; includes materials. Pre-registration is required; telephone (614) 486-4402.

One-day gift-making workshops for children ages 6–12 will be held December 19, 20 and 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Children will create two projects suitable for gift-giving, complete with gift wrap. Different projects will be offered on each day. Fee: $35 per day (before and after-care available). Pre-registration is required; telephone (614) 486-4402.

During “Gifts of the Craftsmen,” the museum will be open Monday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and Sunday, 1–4 p.m.  Admission and parking are free. The Ohio Craft Museum is located at 1665 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43212. Telephone (614) 486-4402, or see our website www.ohiocraft.org.

(Columbus, OH)—The Ohio Craft Museum will be offering one-day gift-making workshops for kids ages 6–12 this holiday season. Inspired by our exhibition Gifts of the Craftsmen, children will finish two projects, complete with gift wrap they decorate themselves. Children will be proud to present their very own handcrafted gifts to someone special this year. These workshops will be held Monday, December 19, Tuesday, December 20, and again on Wednesday, December 21.  Different projects will be offered each day. The fee is $35 per day (before and after-care is available for an additional fee). Participants should bring a packed lunch.

“Kids always enjoy making their own gifts—and parents have some time to finish up last-minute holiday errands,” commented Betty Talbott, museum director. When dropping off, parents will first want to shop “Gifts of the Craftsmen,” our 12th annual holiday exhibition and sale, for unique, handcrafted gifts not found elsewhere. One-of-a-kind jewelry, pottery, art glass, leather purses, clothing and more, all created by over 60 fine craft artists and suitably priced for gift giving, will be available for purchase.

Pre-registration is required. Please call (614) 486-4402. Presented with support from The Arlington Bank.

During the exhibition, November 13–December 23, the museum will be open for extended hours Monday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and Sunday, 1–4 p.m.  Admission and parking are free. The Ohio Craft Museum is located at 1665 West Fifth Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43212. Telephone (614) 486-4402, or see our website www.ohiocraft.org.
